Solar Energy Solutions
In 2021, OAK expanded into the solar energy sector as a developer, investor, and operator of scalable solar generation assets. Through our activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, we support clients and partners in reducing reliance on hydrocarbons, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and contributing to national sustainability objectives.
Since entering the market, OAK has established a growing solar portfolio, with multiple projects delivered and additional developments currently in progress. Our approach focuses on delivering reliable, efficient, and commercially viable solar solutions tailored to the specific requirements of our clients.
As we continue to expand our presence, OAK remains focused on increasing its solar portfolio through strategic partnerships and new development opportunities. By enabling greater access to clean energy, we aim to deliver long-term environmental and economic value across the markets we serve.
Waste-to-Energy (WtE) Solutions
OAK is an active developer, co-investor, and owner of waste-to-energy infrastructure, delivering sustainable solutions that convert municipal waste into reliable power generation. Through advanced thermal processing technologies, we support the transition towards more efficient waste management systems while contributing to lower carbon emissions and reduced reliance on landfills.
A key milestone in OAK’s portfolio is the development of the first waste-to-energy plant in Abu Rawash, Arab Republic of Egypt, delivered under a 25-year concession agreement with the Egyptian Government. The facility has an installed capacity of 35MW and is designed to process up to 1,400 tonnes per day of municipal solid waste, transforming it into a valuable energy resource. Building on this foundation, OAK has secured the exclusive development of additional waste-to-energy projects in Subramant and Alexandria, increasing total planned capacity to over 100MW. These projects support national strategies to address waste management challenges while advancing sustainable infrastructure development.
Through its waste-to-energy platform, OAK contributes to the development of a circular economy by reducing landfill dependency, lowering environmental impact, and generating long-term economic and social value. Our projects create employment opportunities, support local industries, and deliver reliable, cost-effective energy solutions aligned with broader sustainability objectives.
BESS Solutions
OAK is an active developer, investor, and operator of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), delivering advanced energy storage solutions that enable the integration of renewable energy and enhance the reliability, flexibility, and resilience of modern power systems. Through scalable storage infrastructure, we support the transition towards lower-carbon energy networks by addressing the intermittency of renewable generation.
By improving grid stability, optimising energy dispatch, and reducing curtailment, battery storage plays a central role in accelerating the global energy transition and enhancing long-term energy security.
Through this initiative, OAK strengthens its position across the energy value chain, extending beyond project development into advanced manufacturing capabilities that underpin the future of energy storage. The facility will play a key role in supporting regional decarbonisation efforts, enabling greater renewable energy penetration, and reinforcing supply chain resilience across the energy sector.
