Executive Management
Mr. Talal Al Zain
Group Executive Chairman
Mr. Talal Ali Abdullah Al Zain holds a B.B.A. in Accounting and an M.B.A. in Finance from Mercer University, Atlanta, and has completed the Management Development Program at Harvard University. A seasoned finance professional, Mr. Al Zain brings extensive expertise in investment, credit, and economic strategy. He previously served as CEO of PineBridge Investments Middle East and North Africa and Co-Head of Alternative Investments, leading regional initiatives across equity and fixed income markets. Mr. Al Zain was the Founding CEO of Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund, Mumtalakat Holding Company, where he served from 2008 to 2012 and held a Board Directorship. Prior to this, he spent 18 years at Investcorp Bank B.S.C., where he held senior leadership roles across placement, relationship management, and investment banking in the GCC. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions with Chase Manhattan Bank and Citibank in the United States. He has served on numerous boards as Chairman and Director, including Gulf Air, Bahrain Islamic Bank, Bahrain Economic Development Board, McLaren Group, and other leading regional and international institutions. Mr. Al Zain is currently the Founding Chairman of Jisr Capital LLC and serves as Executive Chairman of OAK Group Holdings.
Mr. Gareth R Brown
Group Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Gareth R Brown holds an MBA from Hull University Business School, United Kingdom, and is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Manager. With over 30 years of industry experience, Mr. Brown has extensive expertise in the development and delivery of energy and infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on Independent Water and Power Projects (IWPPs), district cooling, wastewater treatment, waste-to-energy, and alternative power solutions. Based in the Middle East since 1999, Mr. Brown previously held senior general management and development roles within leading international organisations prior to founding OAK Group Holdings. His experience spans project development, financing, regulatory and licensing frameworks, and large-scale project execution across the energy and water sectors. He has led and supported complex transactions across electric utilities, thermal and renewable energy, and infrastructure services, with additional experience in M&A, privatisation, and project finance. Mr. Brown has also played a key role in international bidding processes and the structuring and negotiation of long-term concession agreements with government entities and private sector partners.
Mr. Derrick H Rodney
Group Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Derrick H Rodney is a UK graduate in Business and Finance with over 30 years of experience as a senior corporate operations professional. He has built an international career with leading organisations, supporting clients across the UK, United States, Europe, and the Middle East. Based in the region since 1999, Mr. Rodney is a Partner and Founder of OAK Group Holdings and has held senior roles across consulting and investment banking. His expertise spans corporate strategy, operational transformation, and business growth, from company formation through to large-scale organisational restructuring. He has worked extensively with both public and private sector entities, aligning operational frameworks with strategic objectives. As Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Rodney brings a strong commercial and strategic focus, with core competencies in leadership, stakeholder engagement, and organisational performance.
Sir Liam Fox
Board Advisor
Sir Liam Fox qualified as a medical doctor from the University of Glasgow and served as Member of Parliament for North Somerset from 1992 to 2024. During his time in government, he held several senior cabinet positions, including Secretary of State for Defence and the United Kingdom’s first Secretary of State for International Trade, where he also served as President of the Board of Trade. He additionally served as a Minister in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and as Chairman of the Conservative Party. Sir Liam has played a significant role in international trade and policy, including serving as the United Kingdom’s nominee for Director-General of the World Trade Organization in 2020. In 2021, he was invited by the Ambassadors of the UAE, Israel, Bahrain, and Morocco to establish and chair the UK Abraham Accords Group, promoting international cooperation and economic partnership. He is the author of Rising Tides (2013) and The Coming Storm (2024), which examines the global impact of water on security, climate, and human health. He currently chairs the international Abraham Accords Prosperity Group and serves as an Executive Advisor to OAK Group Holdings.
