Mr. Talal Al Zain
Group Executive Chairman
Mr. Talal Ali Abdullah Al Zain holds a B.B.A. in Accounting, an M.B.A. in Finance from Mercer University, Atlanta and has completed the Management Development Program at Harvard University.
A career Finance Professional, speaking on variety of Investment and Economic issues, Mr. Al Zain has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of credit and investment and brings this to OAK Group Holdings as Executive Chairman. Prior to this, Mr. Al Zain was CEO of Pinebridge Investments LLC, MENA, as well as Co-Head for Alternative Investments, joining in 2012. He led their GCC initiatives for Equity and Fixed income including Oil sector wealth.
Locally, Mr. Al Zain served as the Founding CEO of Bahrain’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, Mumtalakat Holding Company from 2008 to 2012 and held a Board seat as a Director. He also held the position of MD for Investcorp Bank B.S.C for 18 years, leading Placement, Relationship Management and Investment Banking in the GCC. Globally Mr. Al Zain has held a number of senior positions with Chase Manhattan, Citibank Corporate, and Chase Bank, USA.
Mr. Al Zain has held a number of Board positions; holding Chairman and Director positions for corporates such as Gulf Air Company G.S.C, The Bahrain Asset Managers Association, the Bahrain Association of Banks, Bahrain Islamic Bank B.S.C, Oasis Capital B.S.C., Bahrain International Circuit, Bahrain Economic Development Board, @Bahrain, McLaren Automotive Limited, ALUBAF Arab International Bank B.S.C. and McLaren Group and OAK Group Holdings. Presently Mr. Al Zain is the Founding Chairman of Bahrain based Jisr Capital LLC
Mr. Gareth R Brown
Group Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Gareth R Brown holds an MBA from the Hull University Business School in the United Kingdom and is also a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Manager. With over twenty years industry experience, Gareth has had particular focus on Independent Water Power Plant’s (IWPP’s) with key utilities such as District Cooling, Waste Water Treatment, Waste-to-Energy (WTE) and alternative power applications.
Gareth has been based in the Middle East since 1999 and prior to forming OAK Group Holdings, held General Management and Development positions with two global blue chip organizations. Gareth’s experience in developing and financing infrastructure projects within the energy and water sectors have afforded great experience in regulatory & licensing, commercial consulting and project execution. He has had accountability for public utility and independent service provider transactions in the areas of electric utilities, thermal and renewable energy, as well as large independent district cooling applications.
This experience has been further enhanced by M&A, privatization, project finance and project feasibility work. In providing full turnkey integrated utility solutions, Gareth’s leadership qualities have developed in leading technology providers on international bidding processes for multilateral agency-funded projects as well as negotiating project finance contracts. These contracts in the main have been for long term concession agreements both with governmental bodies and private consortium led technology providers.
Mr. Derrick H Rodney
Group Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Derrick H Rodney is a UK Graduate in Business and Finance with over 30 years’ experience as a Senior Corporate Operations professional. Derrick has had a successful career with blue chip international organisations serving clients globally, throughout the UK, US, Europe and MENA region.
Derrick has been living and working in the Middle East since 1999 and prior to being a Partner and Founder in OAK Group Holdings, held senior positions with global institutions in Consulting as well as Investment Banking.
He has been accountable for strategic growth from inception of companies to aligning and reengineering key operational strategies, working with Public and Private entities as well as corporate professionals. As a Senior Corporate Services professional, with a strategic and commercial focus, his key competencies lay in strategy, leadership, relationship management, influencing and communication skills, which underpin his role as OAK’s Group Chief Operating Officer.
